Role OverviewThe Deputy Manager - Sales will be responsible for driving primary and secondary sales across assigned territories, managing channel partners, and leading a sales team to achieve volume, revenue, and market-share targets. The role requires strong execution capability, distributor management skills, and team leadership experience within the steel/metals industry.Key Roles & Responsibilities :Sales & Business Development :- Drive primary sales by managing distributors, stockists, and institutional customers in the assigned region.- Ensure strong secondary sales performance through effective retailer engagement, demand generation, and market coverage.- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets in line with company objectives.- Develop and execute territory-wise sales plans and market penetration strategies.Channel & Distributor Management :Appoint, manage, and strengthen distributors, dealers, and sub-dealers to expand market reach.Monitor distributor stock levels, secondary movement, and credit discipline.Implement trade schemes, promotions, and incentive programs to boost channel performance.Team Handling & Leadership- Lead, coach, and monitor a team of sales executives / officers to ensure productivity and target achievement.- Conduct regular field visits, joint calls, and performance reviews with the team.- Provide on-the-job training and guidance to improve selling effectiveness and product knowledge.Market Intelligence & Reporting- Track competitor activities, pricing trends, and market dynamics, sharing insights with management.- Prepare and submit sales forecasts, MIS reports, and performance dashboards on a regular basis.- Ensure accurate reporting of primary billing, secondary sales, and collections.Coordination & Compliance- Coordinate with logistics, production, and accounts teams to ensure timely order fulfillment and collections.- Ensure adherence to company policies, pricing guidelines, and compliance standards.Key Skills & Competencies- Strong understanding of primary & secondary sales models- Channel sales and distributor management expertise- Team handling and people management skills- Negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills- Exposure to steel / metals / building materials industry preferredPreferred Background- Experience in steel, TMT bars, Cement, Paint or building materials industry- Proven track record of managing territories and leading sales teams (ref:updazz.com)
