Tool room Engineer 1 to 3 yrs exp 26 batch JD: You are the bridge between the production floor and the physical molds. Your primary job is to ensure that multi-ton steel and aluminum injection molds are maintained, repaired, and optimized to minimize machine downtime and part defects. Key Responsibilities 1. Preventive Maintenance (PM) & Mold Servicing Routine Servicing: Perform scheduled PMs on active molds (cleaning cavities, clearing clogged cooling channels, replacing worn O-rings, and lubricating slider/ejector mechanisms). Mold Troubleshooting: Inspect molds for damage like parting line wear, flash marks, burrs, or scored cores and cavities. Assembly & Disassembly: Safely dismantle complex multi-cavity tools, hot runner systems, and molds with intricate mechanisms (lifters, sliders, hydraulic cores) and reassemble them to precision tolerances. 2. Tool Repair & Machining Manual Machining: Operate conventional tool room machinery including manual mills, lathes, surface grinders, and radial drills to modify or repair mold components. Precision Fitting: Use hand tools, blue matching compounds, and stoning techniques to achieve a precise fit on parting lines, ejector pins, and inserts. Polishing: Polish core and cavity surfaces to specific finishes (SPI finishes) to eliminate cosmetic defects like drag marks or splay on molded parts. 3. Supporting Mold Trials & New Product Introduction (NPI) Trial Assistance: Support Tooling and Process Engineers during T0, T1, and T2 mold trials. Modifications: Implement quick engineering changes (ECOs) or modifications to the mold based on dimensional feedback from the QA lab (e.g., venting modification to fix burn marks, or relieving steel to fix short shots).
