VMC Operator Typical Workshop for Engineering Job Description: Responsibilities: VMC Machine Operation & Daily Machining Execution: Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, process routing sheets, and setup instruction cards; load, align, clamp, and operate 3-axis and 4-axis Vertical Machining Centers (VMCs). G-Code Monitoring & Wear Offset Adjustments: To maintain strict dimensional tolerances, monitor G-code/M-code execution on machine controls (FANUC, Siemens, Haas, Mitsubishi), perform dry runs as needed, enter tool wear offsets, and modify feed/speed overrides. Precision Quality Inspection & Metrology: To guarantee 100% drawing conformity, examine first-off and running production parts using precision measuring tools such as Vernier callipers, outside/inside micrometres, height gauges, bore gauges, and thread plug gauges. Tooling & Workpiece Management: Keep an eye on the wear of cutting tools, index and replace inserts, control coolant levels and concentrations, carefully remove metal chips, and handle raw castings, forgings, or billet materials without causing component damage. Basic Preventive Maintenance & TPM: Conduct daily machine autonomous maintenance (JH), which includes cleaning chip conveyors, checking hydraulic and pneumatic pressure gauges, replenishing slideway lubrication lubricants, and keeping workstations tidy.
