Regional Sales Manager - Distribution & Retail (Mumbai)Location: Mumbai, MaharashtraReporting To: National Sales Head / Zonal Sales DirectorIndustry Preference: Top FMCG Companies (India)Experience Required: 15 YearsRole OverviewA leading consumer-focused organization is seeking a high-performing Regional Sales Manager to drive Distribution & Retail Sales operations across the Mumbai region.The ideal candidate will bring deep FMCG distribution experience, strong team leadership capability, and proven success in managing large-scale distributor networks, modern trade, and retail excellence frameworks.Key Result Areas (KRAs)1. Regional Sales Leadership- Own and drive regional revenue, volume growth, and market share expansion.- Translate national sales strategy into robust regional execution plans.- Deliver sustainable and profitable growth.2. Distribution Network Development- Appoint, develop and manage distributors across the Mumbai region.- Improve numeric and weighted distribution.- Strengthen secondary sales velocity and distributor ROI.- Ensure optimal territory mapping and beat efficiency.3. Retail & Trade Excellence- Drive General Trade (GT), Modern Trade (MT), Wholesale & Key Retail segments.- Implement trade marketing initiatives, consumer promotions, and retail visibility programs.- Ensure merchandising excellence and in-store execution standards.4. Modern Trade & Key Account Management- Manage regional modern trade partners and retail chains.- Lead commercial negotiations and joint business planning (JBP).- Drive visibility, shelf share, and promotional effectiveness.5. Team Leadership & Capability Building- Lead and mentor ZSMs, ASMs, and Sales Officers.- Drive performance management systems and target achievement.- Build leadership bench strength and succession pipeline.6. Business Planning & Forecasting- Prepare Annual Operating Plan (AOP), budgets, and sales forecasts.- Coordinate closely with Supply Chain for demand planning and inventory control.- Drive cost optimization and working capital efficiency.7. Market Intelligence & Competitive Strategy- Track competitor pricing, schemes, and trade activity.- Identify white spaces and growth opportunities.- Provide actionable insights for corrective strategies.8. Financial & Compliance Management- Manage credit control, collections, and distributor financial discipline.- Ensure adherence to company policies, audits, and compliance norms.9.
