Field Service Engineer Machinery Performance Improvement Job Description Duties: Execute on-site installation, mechanical assembly, electrical wiring verification, precision alignment, and final commissioning of manufacturing machinery and automated equipment. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM), predictive maintenance (PdM), and emergency breakdown troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Diagnose complex machine failures down to the root cause using engineering schematics, multimeters, oscilloscopes, dynamic balancing tools, and diagnostic software. Provide comprehensive technical training to customer operators and plant maintenance technicians regarding daily machine operations, maintenance schedules, and basic troubleshooting routines. Generate detailed field service reports, equipment calibration records, warranty documentation, and spare parts recommendations using Field Service Management (FSM) software or ERP tools. Identify technical improvement opportunities, machine retrofits, software upgrades, and replacement parts sales, collaborating with sales and customer support teams. Enforce strict compliance with customer site Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) policies, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols, and local regulatory standards during all field service interventions Focus Skills: Strong multi-disciplinary technical background across industrial automation, PLCs (Siemens, Fanuc, Allen-Bradley), VFDs, servo systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical drive systems. Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings, electrical schematics, hydraulic/pneumatic circuit diagrams, and technical manuals. Proven analytical troubleshooting capabilities, root cause failure analysis (RCFA), and field problem-solving skills under time-constrained conditions. Excellent customer-facing communication, interpersonal, and technical consulting skills to interact effectively with customer plant managers and technicians.
