Perform structural, thermal, and kinematic analyses using SolidWorks Simulation (Finite Element Analysis - FEA) and Motion Analysis to evaluate component strength, stress distribution, and operational reliability. Apply correct Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles, surface finishes, fits, and material specifications aligned with shop-floor manufacturing processes (CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, plastic injection molding, casting, and welding). Collaborate with mechanical engineers and tool designers to incorporate Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles into all CAD models. Manage Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), design revisions, Bill of Materials (BOM), and CAD file archiving within Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) or ERP systems. Verify dimensional accuracy, interference checks, collision detection, and clearance tolerances on complex machine assemblies prior to physical fabrication. Ensure all designs and technical documentation comply with relevant industrial standards and plant safety regulations. Required Skills: Advanced technical proficiency in SolidWorks (Part Modeling, Assembly, Drawing, Sheet Metal, Weldments, Advanced Surfacing) with a strong, verifiable portfolio of manufacturing designs. Hands-on expertise in Finite Element Analysis (FEA), static/dynamic simulation, and design optimization using SolidWorks Simulation tools. Deep knowledge of technical drafting standards, orthographic projection, sectioning, and GD&T principles (ASME Y14.5). Solid understanding of common manufacturing and fabrication processes (CNC machining, sheet metal bending, welding, casting, injection molding) to ensure design feasibility.
