Industrial Product Design Specialist AutoCAD Engineer Job Description Who you are: Use AutoCAD to create detailed 2D manufacturing drawings, orthographic drawings, section views, exploded assemblies, component drawings, and shop floor layouts. Design parametric 3D models and assemblies (using AutoCAD 3D, SolidWorks, or Inventor) to visualize and test mechanical interactions before manufacturing on the shop floor. Apply sound principles of Geometric Dimensions and Tolerancing (GD&T), surface treatments, fits, and material specifications to all technical drawings. Collaborate with mechanical engineers and tool designers to integrate design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles into all CAD drawings. Manage Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), design revisions, drawing revision histories, and CAD file archiving within product lifecycle management (PLM) or ERP systems. Verify dimensional accuracy, Bill of Materials (BOM), part numbers, and technical notes on all released drawings to prevent shop-floor fabrication errors.
