Mould Installation Technician Production Machinery Job Description Duties: Perform quick, safe, and efficient mold changeovers (setup and teardown) on production presses according to daily production schedules and Single-Minute Exchange of Die (SMED) principles. Mount, level, align, and secure molds and dies onto machine platens using overhead cranes, hoists, forklifts, clamping units, and torque wrenches. Connect and inspect auxiliary utility lines, including cooling water hoses, oil heaters, hydraulic cores, pneumatic ejectors, hot runner temperature controllers, and sensor interfaces. Input initial machine process parameters (temperature profiles, injection pressures, clamping forces, cycle times, ejection strokes) based on approved process setup sheets. Conduct initial trial runs (first-piece production), inspect sample parts for visual defects (flash, short shots, sink marks, warping), and coordinate with Quality Inspectors for First Off approval. Clean, inspect, lubricate, and apply rust preventative sprays to molds, core pins, and platens before returning tools to storage racks or issuing repair requests to the Tool Room. Strictly follow plant Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) guidelines, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, overhead crane safety protocols, and heavy rigging safety standards during tool handling. Focus Skills: Strong practical experience in mold setting, tool setup, SMED techniques, and plastic injection molding / die-casting operations. Hands-on proficiency with mold clamping mechanisms, hydraulic core pulls, hot runner controllers, water temperature control units (TCUs), and robotic parts unloaders. Ability to safely operate overhead bridge cranes, electric hoists, forklifts, and pneumatic impact tools for heavy mold positioning. Practical understanding of basic molding process parameters, resin types, tool construction, and visual defect identification.
