Blueprint Interpretation: To properly place and join components, read and comprehend technical drawings, fabrication blueprints, structural layouts, and standard welding symbols. Machine Calibration: Depending on the kind and thickness of the material, set up and modify the MIG welding machine 's voltage, wire-feed speed, and shielding gas flow rates. Material Preparation: To ensure ideal arc stability and a flawless bond, clean, grind, clamp, and fixture raw metal workpieces to remove oil, corrosion, and scale. Fit-up and Assembly: Before final welding, align components within fabrication jigs and fixtures and perform accurate tack welds to secure components in position and maintain strict dimensional tolerances. Defect Inspection: Visually inspect completed welds on a regular basis to find surface defects including porosity, cracking, undercuts, or burn-through, then carry out any necessary rework. Post-Weld Finishing: Clean minor splatter, use wire brushes or angle grinders to clean joints, and get finished assemblies ready for painting or the next stage of manufacturing. Safety and Maintenance: Examine welding torches, liners, tips, and shrouds every day. Use the appropriate PPE welding hood, leather gloves, safety glasses and rigorously adhere to plant safety regulations. Required Skills: MIG Technical Expertise: Excellent control over torch angles, travel speeds, and arc consistency to produce clean fillet and groove welds. Blueprint & Symbol Literacy: Good knowledge of AWS/ISO standard welding symbols and industrial fabrication blueprints. Equipment familiarity: Total ease with handheld power grinders, plasma cutters, industrial MIG welding machines, and cutting saws. Material Knowledge: A practical grasp of the effects of temperature input on various metal alloys, especially with reference to distortion mitigation and warp control. Physical stamina: The ability to work in production bays, stand for long periods of time, bend, kneel, and lift assemblies up to 25 kg. Precision Focus: Excellent consistency in reproducing clean, exact weld profiles during large-scale manufacturing runs.
