Your main task is to use Gas Metal Arc Welding GMAW/MIG procedures to permanently join metal pieces, sheets, and structural components. As the "Production Efficiency Expert, " you work quickly to complete high-quality, continuous, and clean welds in order to meet strict assembly deadlines. A meticulous technician with a "Quality-First " mentality who can set up shielding gas mixtures, control wire-feed speeds, and maintain clean weld beads with little spatter on materials ranging from heavy steel frames to thin gauge sheet metals is the ideal candidate. Key Duties: Welding Execution: Apply Gas Metal Arc Welding GMAW/MIG manually and semi-automatically to a variety of materials, mainly aluminum, carbon steel, and stainless steel. Blueprint Interpretation: To properly position and join components, read and understand technical drawings, fabrication blueprints, structural layouts, and standard welding symbols. Machine Calibration: Depending on the kind and thickness of the material, configure and modify the voltage, wire-feed speed, and shielding gas flow rates of MIG welding machines. Material Preparation: To ensure ideal arc stability and a flawless bond, clean, grind, clamp, and fixture raw metal workpieces to remove scale, corrosion, and oil. Fit-up and Assembly: Before final welding, align parts within manufacturing jigs and fixtures and perform accurate tack welds to secure components in place and preserve tight dimensional tolerances. Defect Inspection: Visually inspect completed welds on a regular basis to find surface defects including porosity, cracking, undercuts, or burn-through, and carry out any necessary rework. Post-Weld Finishing: Use wire brushes or angle grinders to clean joints, remove small splatter, and get finished assemblies ready for the next manufacturing or painting step. Safety and Maintenance: Check the liners, tips, shrouds, and welding torches every day. Use the appropriate PPE welding hood, leather gloves, safety glasses and adhere closely to plant safety regulations.
