Patrol Inspector In-Process Quality Inspection Job Description Experience: 2 to 6 yrs Salary: Based on Company Norms Education: Diploma/BE in Mech Location: In And Around Chennai Your Duties: Perform hourly or scheduled patrol inspections across assigned production lines, machine workstations, and assembly cells according to Quality Inspection Plans (QIP). Audit First Piece (First Off) approvals at shift startup, tool changes, or material lot changes before mass production begins. Inspect in-process components and assemblies for dimensional accuracy, visual appearance, surface finish, structural integrity, and functional performance. Verify machine process parameters (temperatures, pressures, feed rates, cycle times) against approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and control plans. Collect, measure, and log inspection data on SPC (Statistical Process Control) charts, check sheets, and Quality Management Software to track process stability. Immediately halt non-conforming production lines, apply red tags / quarantine tags to defective batches, and issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) to Production Leads. Collaborate with Quality Engineers and Production Supervisors on Root Cause Analysis (5-Why, 8D) to resolve line defects and prevent recurring issues. Verify proper handling, labeling, identification, and 5S cleanliness of work-in-progress (WIP) inventory on the shop floor.
