Patrol Inspector Defect Identification & Reporting Job Description Who you are: Performs hourly or scheduled walk-around inspections of assigned production lines, machines, and assembly areas according to the Quality Inspection Plan (QIP). Audit first-party approvals (from the beginning) when starting a shift, changing tools, or changing batches of materials before starting mass production. Inspect components and assemblies during manufacturing to verify dimensional accuracy, appearance, surface finish, structural integrity, and function. Check machine process parameters (temperature, pressure, feed rate, cycle time) against approved standard operating procedures (SOPs) and control plans. Collect, measure and record inspection data into SPC (statistical process control) charts, checklists and quality management software to track process stability. Immediately shut down non-conforming production lines, apply red tags/quarantine tags to defective lots and submit non-conformity reports (NCRs) to production managers. Collaborate with Quality Engineers and Production Managers to perform root cause analysis (5 Whys, 8Ds) to resolve line defects and prevent problems from occurring again. Verify proper handling, labeling, identification and cleanliness of Work in Process (WIP) within the workshop and compliance with 5S requirements.
