Production Supervisor Driving Shop Floor Efficiency Job Description Supervising daily shop-floor manufacturing operations, leading shift production teams, enforcing standard operating procedures (SOPs), meeting output targets, and maintaining strict safety and quality standards. Responsibilities: Assign work tasks and direct daily shop-floor activities for operators and technicians to achieve shift production targets. Monitor line performance, manpower utilization, material flow, and cycle times to minimize idle time and operational bottlenecks. Ensure line compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions, quality check sheets, and 5S workplace management. Perform initial line troubleshooting for process issues, material defects, or minor machine stops, escalating major breakdowns to Maintenance. Record daily production metrics, scrap/rejection logs, downtime hours, and shift logbooks within ERP systems. Enforce personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, shop-floor safety guidelines, and environmental health protocols. Conduct shift handovers, brief operators on targets and safety toolbox talks, and manage workforce attendance and shift scheduling. Skills: Demonstrated supervisory experience managing assembly/machining lines and operators on operational manufacturing shop floors. A solid grasp of 5S/Lean principles, shop floor safety, line balancing, and production process. The fundamental technical ability to interpret operating manuals, job instructions, and production drawings. Knowledge of shift reporting tools and production logging in ERP systems (SAP PP/Oracle).
